Common Conditions

Your eyes are important to you, and that is why we want to do all we can to help you keep them healthy.  It is important for patients to be informed and educated about their ocular health.  Below you will find a list of different conditions you may be suffering from.  If you have questions of conerns about your eyes contact us to set up an appointment today.

Myopia (Nearsightedness)

Nearsighted individuals typically have problems seeing well at a distance and that is due to an eye that is longer that normal and the cornea may also be steeper. We provide several refractive surgery solutions to correct all levels of nearsightedness.

Hyperopia (Farsightedness)

Farsighted individuals have shorter than normal eyes and have problems seeing up-close because the light of distant objects focuses behind the retina, causing images to become blurred.

Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a common vision condition where the corneal surface is not evenly shaped, causing one to see ghosting or shadowing of images. Astigmatism can occur alone but is most often combined with nearsightedness or farsightedness.

Presbyopia

There is a lens in the eye, which “accommodates” light so that we can see at near distances. With presbyopia, light from a near object enters the eye, the cornea refracts the light and the lens changes shape to accommodate for the decreased focal length of a near object. Unfortunately, this lens within the eye, as it ages, loses its ability to focus causing blurriness.

Dry Eye

Dry eye is a condition that occurs when your eyes don't produce enough tears resulting in your eyes burning, feeling scratchy and irritated. Your eyes need to be examined to determine the best course of treatment. Call us today to set up an appointment.
